It was new, a red 91, about 3k odometer, and I thought it was time to "try it out" going around a very familiar curve I punched it in second gear to get the rear end to break loose like my GT-6 used to....it did, and kept going around until the car hit the side of the road, dirt shoulder and a 20 foot deep ditch. Ended up on the roof thinking "I just wrecked my new Z car".....I can attest the roof is very strong as I hung from the seat belt still listening to the World Series the t-roofs were crackling so I GOT THE HELL OUT!
Told the cop I was avoiding a deer. He laughed but wrote it up that way for my insurance company.
Later, I found out a sharp branch had punched out the driver's side triangular window and completely pierced the entire drivers seat from left to right. A few inches farther forward and I would have been a bleeding shish-Z-bob. Lucky.
Moral: Be happy you weren't injured/killed (or your girlfriend)
PS: bought another z with the insurance $$, but the salesman (same guy) called me an "asshole" for wrecking it.
